Twitter shares tweets from users.
Postings are short-160 characters- and it makes a little confusing to respond
to the postings of other users, if these responses are not right after the
tweet is posted. Discussions in Twitter are very different from discussions
held in Blackboard or in class. Blackboard allows students to expand their
discussions as much as they want; it is easy to follow these discussions even
if they were posted days ago. On the other hand, in class is a more interactive
discussion type. There is nothing like discussion in person, in my opinion. In
person, there are more opportunities for feedbacks, opinions, thoughts that can
make the discussion deeper and more knowledgeable.
I agree, discussing in person and discussing online is very much different. I like to engage in conversation through human interaction because it can have a greater impact than reading something instead of listening to what the person actually has to say. Great work!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree because discussions online and discussions via the Internet holds different interpretations. Example, using twitter with a few words can be interpreted different ways because there is no body language or tone associated with it. On the other end of the spectrum is a live in class discussion. Like you and Charles mentioned, it's more interactive. In my opinion, Blackboard falls in between Twitter and the Live in class discussion because it is online and it allows you to interact with each other but in more depth than Twitter and less interactive than a classroom.
